Compare How Multi-Device Keyboards Switch Between Computers

Separate device count, connection modes and the actual switch action from broader cross-device software features.

WHAT YOU'LL MAKE

What you'll have: A comparison template and a model-specific Easy-Switch example.

Keep unknown fields explicit; confirm model-specific claims in the cited documentation.

A keyboard that supports several devices can still require a deliberate switch before typing on another one. Device count does not describe the switching action, and a hardware switch is not the same as software that moves content between computers. Compare the behavior you need, not just the largest number.

Write each target computer or mobile device and its operating system. Then identify the exact keyboard model and regional layout. Similar branding can cover different receivers, key labels or software conditions.

Do not assume a multi-device keyboard sends one keystroke to two computers at once. The documented switch behavior must answer that task separately.

Use one documented example

Logitech's K780 product information advertises up to three devices and Easy-Switch. Its model guide describes the setup and key labeling. Those sources support a three-device switching discussion for K780, not a universal claim about every Logitech keyboard.

An older guide's OS list is useful historical context but does not prove current software support for a newly released system. Check the current support page when a feature depends on software rather than basic keyboard input.

Distinguish the actions

For an illustrative work-and-personal-computer setup, record “select device key, then type on that computer” if that is the exact model's documented routine. If your task requires moving a clipboard or pointer between computers, create a separate requirement and find explicit software support. A keyboard's pairing count does not establish those functions.

Receiver and Bluetooth modes may have different setup conditions. Verify which mode each computer will use, whether a receiver is included or supported, and what happens when a target is unavailable according to the documentation.

Keep layout and shortcuts in the decision

A switching feature can be suitable while the physical layout is wrong for your typing needs. Check the actual regional keyboard and system-key labels before buying. This worksheet is based on official descriptions; it does not claim a measured switching delay, hands-on comparison or product ranking.

Sources and scope

Official documentation checked October 17, 2026. The exact models, versions and conditions below matter.

  • Logitech K780 official product specifications — K780 advertises up to three devices and Easy-Switch. Specific host and software requirements must be checked against the current product documentation.
  • Logitech K780 guide — Model-specific setup and key-label guide; an older OS list does not prove current software support.
