A monitor's headline resolution and refresh rate summarize the panel, while each input may have its own mode conditions. A product listing that says 4K and includes several ports is not automatically a table of every resolution, refresh, color-depth and feature combination.
Begin with the exact model and regional documentation. Similar product names can cover different versions. Record the source page and the date so a later revision does not erase the basis of your decision.
Read the summary without filling its gaps
BenQ's Canadian PD2705U specifications list a 27-inch 3840 × 2160 display at 60 Hz, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.4 and USB-C with DP Alt Mode, data and 65 W power delivery. Those are useful published facts. That summary alone does not establish every per-input color-depth or timing combination.
| Field | What the cited PD2705U page supports | What remains to check for a particular task |
|---|---|---|
| Panel mode | 3840 × 2160, 60 Hz summary | Exact requested mode on selected input |
| HDMI input | HDMI 2.0 listed | Timing and color-format conditions |
| DisplayPort input | DP 1.4 listed | Computer output and cable conditions |
| USB-C | Video, data and 65 W PD listed | Host video support and power requirements |
Do not convert “not stated on this page” into “unsupported.” It means that a more specific manual, timing table or manufacturer answer is needed before relying on the feature.
Use one row for each target mode
Write the requested resolution, refresh rate, input, color mode if relevant, and any adapter in the chain. Then find the exact supporting section in the manual. If two settings are documented separately, do not assume their highest values operate simultaneously.
A useful hypothetical target is “3840 × 2160 at 60 Hz over HDMI from computer X.” The monitor's panel specification answers only part of it. The host may impose a lower limit: Dell's Inspiron 16 5640 manual, for example, states an HDMI limit of 1920 × 1080 at 60 Hz despite naming HDMI 1.4. An interface version cannot replace that model-specific restriction.
Make the decision traceable
Keep the selected mode as confirmed only when the entire requested combination has evidence. If the timing table is missing, write the exact unresolved question and ask the manufacturer or choose a documented alternative. This is a specification review, not a claim that the display has been connected and tested by this site.
